Why I Love and Value the Prophetic: Rhema

Why I Love and Value the Prophetic
Rhema to our Path

“Where is your Ruth?”

The world is rocking and the times have brought changes to many people’s lives.  Many have had to move to seek new employment leaving all they loved and knew behind, others have struggles for various other reasons each leaving in its wake tears and pain, while others have lost everything because of the economy. We find ourselves asking God, “Why am I here?”

Your “here” may not be a physical “here” but very possibly an emotional or spiritual “here”.  If this is you then believe I have a word from the Lord for you…

“Where is your Ruth?”

Naomi found herself in such a place as many currently find themselves. Naomi’s husband, Elimelech, moved the family to Moab because of a famine in Bethlehem. While in Moab Elimelech and both Naomi’s sons died; upon returning home to Bethlehem Naomi said, "Do not call me Naomi (my delight); call me Mara (bitter), for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.”  I went out full, and the LORD has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the LORD has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?"

Naomi said she had come back empty; she thought everything had been taken from her - by the Hand of God nonetheless; pain and circumstances dimmed her eyes as to how wrong she really was about her situation.  One thing did came back with her, it was Ruth; a precious daughter-in-law of whom the people said was better to Naomi than 7 sons.

Ruth was worth Naomi's trip to Moab; even though Ruth was born a Moabitess she left her family and gods and clung to Naomi and her God.  Ruth ended up marrying Boaz; they had a son named Obed.  Obed had a son named Jesse – the father of King David… the ancestor of Jesus Christ; all because Naomi "due to famine" went to Moab with her husband and sons!

Sometimes this side of eternity it’s hard to understand why God does or allows what He does when our hearts are so broken we just can’t seem to see God in our circumstances (the Emmaus Road).  We need God to bring some light to our path…hopefully this message has brought some light to your path.

So who or what is your Ruth?  What was so important to God He moved you where you are or allowed your circumstances to be such that they are?  You aren’t where you are just because…there aren’t “just becauses” in the life of those who love God!  Trust Him in the fog.

From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.  Acts 17:26

Ask Him who or what your Ruth is…

Why Some People Leave the Prophetic Movement - Reason 3

Reasons Why Some People Leave the Prophetic Movement:
…Or Any Other Movement

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:42

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matt 28:19-20

I’m writing this article about a genuine move of God.  There are movements which of course are not of God and I am not writing about them in this article.

Movements are awesome for the most part, but they aren’t the whole picture of the Church; the Church is much bigger than a movement. The Church lasts for eternity; a movement is to get the Church or society in closer alignment with the Kingdom of God.

Think of it like a big ship on the ocean. Waves come and go but the ship keeps moving forward with the captain at the helm; speeding up, slowing down, turning this way and that.  The people aboard all at once rush to one side shifting the balance and direction of the ship; the captain quickly grabs the helm to stabilize the vessel and redirect its course with the new coordinates as the guide. This is much like the behavior of a movement.

Each movement brings quick redirection to the Church by thrusting her forward and often throwing her off balance.  The job of leaders with the help of the Holy Spirit is to incorporate the new coordinates into the vision of the Church and at the same time make sure the people remain aligned with the overall vision of the Kingdom of God.

The prophetic is supposed to be a normal part of every Christian’s life along with many other things – some mentioned in the scriptures above.  When a church pitches a tent on any doctrine or Biblical truth other than Jesus Christ and builds a church on it, their coordinates are directed away from due North.

A church which rejects the move of the Holy Spirit or if they make that movement their identity – Instead of Jesus Christ, is in danger of becoming irrelevant; people who are in step with the Holy Spirit will sooner or later leave such church.

Ga 5:25  Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Why Some People Leave the Prophetic Movement - Reason 2

Reasons Why Some People Leave the Prophetic Movement
King David, Joseph and the Mountain Tops

The Lord told me once Valleys are just inverted Mountains; if you can receive it

The prophetic often speaks from mountain top to mountain top.  The struggle is the distance between – namely the valleys or as the Lord sees it, the inverted mountain top. The view of the next mountain top gets us through the inversion which lies between the revelation and the realization.

King David was anointed king by Samuel years before he received the throne.  The Word of the Lord placed David on a mountain top in 1 Samuel 16 and pointed to the next (2 Samuel 2) saying (paraphrased), “I anoint you king today but in time you will become king.  Can you see it over there David?  It’s on the next mountain top.  Descend so you may ascend, David.”  God used the first king – Saul in David’s “valley-top” to prepare David to be King of Judah and then as King over all Israel.  It was an awful time for David; Saul hunted him like an animal but God was with him watching and protecting, chiseling and forging in the fires of preparation; the route to the throne.

Joseph had a mountain top experience in Genesis 37 which spanned years of time to its fulfillment in Genesis 41.  Joseph’s “valley -top” was also horrific.  Who could have foreseen the smoldering pot which lay between the revelation and the realization?  Necessary for preparation, the death of the dream seemed complete.  BUT GOD Who loves to raise the dead at just the right time upturned Joseph’s valley to a mountain fulfilling His Word; Joseph’s brothers bowed down and he reigned 2nd in Egypt.

And Abraham; Heb 6:15 And so, after he (Abraham) had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
The Promise => Endurance =>The Fulfillment

And the Hebrews; Heb 10 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.  For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise…
The Promise => Endurance in His Will =>The Fulfillment

So, why marry this to “Reasons Why Some People Leave the Prophetic Movement”?

God usually speaks then tests then fulfills.  Many if not most people do not endure the testing between the revelation and the realization; sometimes because of unbelief in the word spoken other times they just grow weary (Gal 6:9) but for whatever reason, they quit and don’t receive the promise.  The people who inherit what is promised all have this in common; They believe, they endure, they receive.
