2 Kings
9:11-13
[After a prophet’s son, sent by Elisha, prophesied to Jehu] Then Jehu came out to the servants of his master, and one said to him, “Is all well? Why did this madman come to you?” And he said to them, “You know the man and his babble.” And they said, “A lie! Tell us now.” So he said, “Thus and thus he spoke to me, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD: “I have anointed you king over Israel.”’” Then each man hastened to take his garment and put it under him on the top of the steps; and they blew trumpets, saying, “Jehu is king!”

paraphrase: “These prophets and their sons are insane crazies. But humor us why
did he come to you and what did he say? We know they only babbled madness.
Entertain us, what did he say?” … “Oh wait, he said what? He said you are
king!! We like that…Jehu is king!!”
What happens when people cannot recognize the word of the Lord
when they hear it. We are called mad babblers, but then, when they like what
they hear they claim it as true.
