The News which comes from Heaven is incomparable with the news from Earth -– they are from different worlds.  The news from Earth is only the natural unspiritual view of happenings upon the Earth.  The news from Heaven is much different; Its view of the same circumstances is complete and right and True being revealed from God’s perspective.  They both see the same events but the perspectives are completely different.  The view from Heaven will not only see the same circumstances but it will also see God’s Heart, God’s design, and His purpose for it; even how it fits in the eternal plan of things.  The news of Earth cannot do this…It only reports what it sees, God also only reports what He sees but His view is accurate and complete and right!  

In 2 Kings 6 we read about Elisha and his servant and the difference in the way they viewed the news around them.  Dothan was surrounded by an army, chariots and horses from the king of Syria, which is all Elisha’s servant saw and he was terrified, “Alas, my master!  What shall we do?” was his response when he saw them; Elisha saw from Heaven’s view!  Oh, Elisha saw horses and chariots and a vast army but his focus was not on the one which his servant focused on…He saw God’s army surrounding the army of Syria!  The rest of this account is incredible; directed by God and not at all the way man would naturally act towards his enemy; they (the Samaritans) fed the Syrians, sent them away and there was peace.

We can see from Heaven’s perspective too - if we want - but we must pay the price!

Why Some People Give Up on the Prophetic - Reason 1

The Bible commands,“Do not despise prophecies.” (1Th 5:20 ).  

Someone (thanks Em) suggested I write about why some leave the “Prophetic Movement”.  People leave things because they lose hope, lose interest or get disillusioned by what the “thing” has to offer. Let’s address this in regard to the prophetic.

Over the 30 years which I have been involved in the Prophetic I have seen many well intended people doing the best they can to hear God and then deliver what they believe to be the Word of the Lord; usually the problems rests in the manner in which they “deliver” the message balanced with the way they “heard” the message.  For example, if someone comes to you and says, “I heard God say…” Does this mean they heard the audible voice of God (level 5 on a 5 scale) or did they have a slight impression (level 1 or 2 on a 5 scale) in which they determined – either rightly or wrongly – it was God?   

Some important advice I can give about the prophetic beyond – Know God! – is to deliver the message in the manner in which you received it. There is nothing wrong in saying, “The other day I was praying and had an impression to pray for you about…” rather than whoop up a prophecy out of an impression and therefore tilt the scales off balance.  It was an impression, deliver it that way.  When we deliver a message we believe to be from the Lord as a level 4 on a 5 scale, when it was actually a 2 we can dishearten the hearer by leading them to believe something which maybe wasn’t actually from God, rather it was from our own soul.  This dynamic can cause people to “give up” on the prophetic throwing the whole gift away instead of learning to discern themselves what is and what is not the Voice of God.  

Another thing which can cause confusion is when we see or hear something from the Lord then – we as the prophetic voice misunderstand the interpretation; this leads us to say what God didn’t mean.  I have done this; sadly it was a very hard lesson: 

I was asked at a meeting to pray for a lady that I had never met.  I laid hands on her and after a short time I saw in my spirit “a brain”.  I interpreted this as a “thought problem” and began to pray along this theme.  I didn’t ask the Lord what the interpretation was for “the brain”.  It wasn’t her thought life at all.  I found out she had five brain surgeries and was scheduled for her sixth and last.  Had I waited for the LORD to tell me the interpretation, our faith may have been increased and she may have been healed.  But, she wasn’t.  What a powerful lesson I learned too bad the price was so high!  Let us say only what we know.  I should have just said, “I’m seeing a “brain” in my spirit.  Does this mean anything to you?”

For you who have been wounded by the prophetic, sorry – Please don’t give up on the prophetic!  We all need each other and all the gifts of the Holy Spirit to build up the church and win the lost.

Why I love and Value the Prophetic: Reason 2

When God speaks to an individual, to a church, or nation we immediately know how to pray according to the will of God.

Daniel 9:1-3 In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian kingdom— in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

It was now 66 years later... Daniel not only believed the Prophet Jeremiah but because he believed the Word of the Lord he prayed according to what the Lord had said.  How many prophesies have we heard and said, “That was a great prophecy” then done nothing else?  Let’s receive the Word of the Lord to us then because we believe, let’s bring it before the Lord in prayer. 

Why I Value the Prophetic

Reason 1

The Prophetic has the ability to lift us up from our valley so we can regain sight of the vision the Holy Spirit has given to us. This gives courage and strength to the weary, refocuses our eyes and reminds us of things we have previously seen by the Holy Spirit.

Think about standing on one hill top and seeing the goal on the next hill top. You descend into the valley on your way towards the vision, weariness sinks in and you begin to loose sight of exactly what lies on the top of the next hill.  The prophetic comes, temporarily lifts you up above the valley so you can again see the goal; being reminded of what you've seen by the Holy Spirit you gain encourage to trek up the hill towards the goal.

Heavenly or Earthy, it's our choice!

Christians, we can be either naturally-minded or spiritually-minded; it is our choice. Romans 12: 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is— His good, pleasing and perfect will. We need our thinking transformed by believing God rather than our circumstances or our own perspectives. His ways are not our ways but this shouldn’t be! Our thoughts should be His thoughts and His ways should be our ways! Prayer is essential if we want to see through the lens of Heaven. In Psalm 73 King David says he saw things differently after he went into the sanctuary of God; then he understood…(:17). Let’s go up higher; thinking and seeing from Heaven’s perspective.
