Why I love and Value the Prophetic: Reason 3:
Confirmation to What God Has Spoken
In the Scriptures we see how the Prophetic comes to encourage people to continue on with what God had already spoken. Two of many examples are Haggai the Prophet with the rebuilding of the Temple and in Act 21:11 Agabus told Paul what would happen to him in Jerusalem. The people of Israel had already been told to rebuild & Paul must have already heard from the Lord concerning the events which would happen in Jerusalem since his response was, “…For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."
My husband George and I were getting ready to go to a conference. I spent time in prayer asking the Lord for Him to use me in the Prophetic for the conference; I generally take notes as He shows me things in prayer. The Holy Spirit gave me a picture of a very tall African-America man – probably 6’10” and as the Lord showed him to me I began to cry out to God on his behalf concerning just about anything I could think of which had to do with the Book of Nehemiah.
At the conference there he was – nearly 6’10”, African-American – I walked up to him, said I’d seen him in prayer and was led to pray for you about the Book of Nehemiah. I prayed for courage, to scale the City’s walls at night, to not give into the enemies’ tactics, etc.” This got his attention! He’d felt led to move his church (he was the senior pastor) to a risky part of the city but was being resisted by the other leaders. He had spent the last 10 weeks preaching out of Nehemiah trying to impart vision to the church. Needless to say, The Lord spoke to him and he was very encouraged to continue with what he’d heard from the Lord.
Let’s pray with eyes wide open –
